Tremendo Cuarteto
We gathered with the common desire to share our passion for Spanish music and dance. Combining our different experiences.
We found a meeting point, a synergy between classical music and folklore. Voices, guitar, piano, cello, dance, and percussion come together to give a more «popular» touch to classical works by Manuel de Falla, Joaquin Nin, and Isaac Albéniz, among others.
La Zarzuela, a lyrical play, is part of our repertoire, with arrangements written especially for our ensemble.
Another look at so-called «scholarly» music, drawing its strength from the heart of folklore.
The popular fiber is reinforced here by «Copla», which is the equal of fado in Portugal and bolero in Latin America. Its melodies tell life stories: love, past emotions, and the illusion of the future.
One cannot speak of Spanish culture without mentioning Federico García Lorca, composer, poet and friend of Manuel de Falla, Salvador Dalí and Luis Buñuel.
The melodies of Lorca sung, recited and danced highlight an intense episode of Spain: a period of repression during which artists claimed and expressed themselves at the risk of their lives.
